DESCRIPTION OF TEXTURED COATING
An air drying decorative, waterproof, textured finish designed for application to a wide variety of external wall surfaces. The product is based on a highly flexible blend of alkyd and polybutane resins coupled with carefully selected pigments, aggregates and texturing materials. the product is intended for application as a heavy one coat finish of 0.3 – 0.5 litres per m2 depending on substrate profile, by specialist spray equipment of high pressure pump fed spray type (This product should not be applied by brush or roller).

PRELIMINARY PREPARATION
Before applying Textured Coating it is essential that the following work be carried out:
1. Structural repairs:
All necessary structural repairs must be carried out.
2. Surface preparation:
All surfaces must be clean and free from loose particles, grease and fungi. Hair cracks will be bridged but larger cracks must be filled. Chalky or friable surfaces should be wire brushed and sealed. Bituminous surfaces should be sealed with an anti bleed sealer. All exposed brickwork should be bagged. Where there is an existing paint work this must be in tight, sound condition. Where necessary water blast to remove dirt, fungi and all friable and crumbly material, and if necessary use a wire brush or scraper. Water blasting equipment should be capable of a pressure of 1200psi at a delivery rate of 15 to 20 litres per minute.
PRIMING
Having ascertained that the walls are in a clean, sound condition, apply one coat of primer by brush or roller. The primer in this specification is a 50:50 mix of the coating and a solvent based silicon which damp proofs the surface and provides a sealed non absorbent base for over-coating with Textured Coating. The primed surfaces should not be exposed for lengthy periods. There is a risk, especially in industrial atmospheres of the surface becoming contaminated causing a poor adhesion of the finishing coat.
SPRAY APPLICATION
All surfaces not to be coated must be adequately masked. Textured Coating is applied by high pressure spray using specialist equipment. The average film thickness will be approximately 0.8mm. A finishing coat may be thinned to a suitable viscosity, dependant on weather and temperature conditions by the addition of not more than 10% of a suitable solvent. Textured Coating is air drying, touch dry in 12 – 24 hours and fully cured in 2 – 4 weeks.
